A Few Google Apps That Make Internet Life Easier.

I have seen many people who used to send site links or information they found on net to mail from home and refer them later at office or vice versa. So I used to tell my friends why are you struggling so much, who Google comes with lot of apps to make you internet life easier. Later I decided to blog about some apps that I found good.

1. Google Bookmarks


As the name suggests, it provides you an online bookmarking storage. You can create your own labels and add links to the according labels. This App becomes a powerful tool, if you are using it with Mozilla Firefox. Firefox have an add on called GMarks (click here to download it), using which immediately you can add links as bookmark to Google Bookmarks.


2. Google Notebook


This application comes handy when you want to store a small notes from the net instead of saving the entire web page or adding bookmark to it and reading entire site once again.


3. Google Mobile


Google Mobile is an another interesting feature from Google. Google provides many of their features as a mobile app. Even you can sync your mobile calendar with Google calendar. This option is too good if your office events are in sync with Google calendar (See my other blog about syncing Google calendar, Thunderbird and your windows mobile).


4. Google Calendar



• Events

one of the best usage of Google Calendar is, you can register your mobile with your Google profile. You have the options to set reminder to calendar events as "Send a mail" or "Send an SMS". So before the events starts and in the interval you specified, Google will send you an SMS reminding you about the event. I have added all my insurance payments, other payments or expiry dates of certification already with the Google and they used to Send me SMS reminding about the payment/warnings.


• Tasks

A handy utility where you can create online tasks and once finished mark them as finished. As there is no synchronization possible with any of the applications, I am using it least.

And above all, as s software programmer I cannot live without Google Search Engine. In our office we used to joke, "if Google stopped, thus the end of our career life."
